Too many books, too little time.
White Trash Beautiful - Teresa Mummert Rating Clarification: 3.5 Stars

This is the story of Cass and Tucker.
Cass is a waitress, lives in a trailer park with a junkie mother and even junkie shit-ass boyfriend. Her life is bad, really bad. (And she reminds us that every 5.7 seconds.)
She believes that her life will never be more than that and that’s her sad destiny.

Tucker is the lead singer of Damaged, a rock band starting its rising to stardom.
One day he has a concert close to Cass’s town and goes to the dinner where she works at. He immediately sees her bruises and knows that he has to be the one to saver.
He sees that she is much more than just a beautiful white trash girl.

This book had a lot of potential. And I mean: A LOT. After all, the hero is a goddamn rock-star!
But there was something missing. The book took spend too much time with Cass throwing pity parties for herself and a lot less time than it should focusing in their relationship. And when that eventually happens it looks too forced and too fast.
Even the steam and the romance in this book was a lot less than it should have been. There was a few really good moments but unfortunately very apart from each other.
I was undecided between two or three stars, but in the end, I’m a sucker for rock-stars.
What can a girl do?

Search Me - Katie Ashley I’m already a fan of this author so I’m probably biased reviewing this book, but I found it a really enjoyable reading. This was a very good reading.

This is the story of Lane and Maddox, they know each other since kids since Maddox is a foster son of Lane’s “aunt” and they used to spend summers together.
Lane always had a thing for Maddox, and in the night before him goes to army they get together and everything changes.
They don’t see the other for the next three years, when they meet in Lane’s aunt house and she has a thing for antiques. In one of them they found an old map and in that moment starts a treasure hunt that will change their lives.

Half of the time I felt I was in the middle of an Indiana Jones movie, the other half was a really sweet romance (and sexy, don’t you worry!).
The supportive characters were very good and the main ones also: although they pissed me off in one time or another.
It was definitely a very good reading and believe me when I tell you: The sexiest treasure hunt I’ve ever read!
Lick - Kylie Scott I’ve got to say that this was an excellent reading. But then again, I usually love every book where the hero is a rock-star. Oh musicians, we can’t help loving them!
The good thing about this book is that it was slightly different than your traditional rock star history.
There was not some kind of love at first sight, throw drama in the middle, forget the groupies, I want the forever kind of story. After all, the protagonists started this book… married.

Evelyn doesn’t remember a thing about the night of her 21th birthday in Vegas. So when she wakes up married with a strange (but extremely hot) guy, she loses it. So she decides in the moment that they should get an annulment. After all, her goal is to be an architect, not be married at 21.
But when in the same day paparazzi get crazy on her, she realizes that she didn’t married a strange guy: she married David Ferris, lead guitarist of the world famous rock band Stage Dive.
David wasn’t that drunk. He remembers everything and he knows exactly why he ended up married that day.
But when things start to get crazy with the media, the rumors and the aspects of the rock-and-roll celebrity life, he asks Evelyn to go with him for a few days until the news of their wedding get old and they could get an annulment. And alone in a seclude house, they get to know more about each other and Evelyn starts to find out more about that night and they started to realize that maybe there was a reason for them to get married.
Maybe it wasn’t just a drunk decision. And if things are already crazy, from that point on it’s a damn roller-coaster.

This was a great book. I love the somewhat original story, loved the characters, David mostly but I also liked Evelyn a lot.
I loved the supportive characters (I really hope next book will be about Mal!!), loved the romance and the steamy scenes and really liked how the story developed through the book.
I was a very good reading and I will definitely follow this series! :)
Dissolution (Breach, #1.5) - K.I. Lynn description

This is a short story under Nathan’s POV (did I ever told you how I like so much more male pov’s??)
This happens between the time Nathan left Lila, thinking it was the best for her and the end of the book. (That damn end!)

We get to know more about Nathan’s past and understanding why is he so broken and also understanding some of his actions. And God, he is a broken man!
A extremely hot broken man.

A short, fantastic and heartbreaking story :)
Breach - K.I. Lynn Believe me, I would love to write a review to this book, but I’m finding it really hard considering that I have no f***ing idea what to say. This was a completely messed up book in the greatest way possible.
I had moments where I didn't know what the hell was happening and just wanted to trow the tablet out of the window but I loved every single second of it.

Broken is probably the word that best describe this book and the protagonists.
Nathan is broken by events out of his control that happened in is past. He closed himself to people, trying to prevent that from happening again.
Lila is also broken by her past, her childhood left traumas in her that she can’t get through so she fakes a strong façade so nobody’s can see the real person behind her.
When they start to get together, it’s like a damn train-wreck that on one side we don’t want to see, but we just can’t stop looking.

Anyway, let’s do this in list form because I don’t have a lot of time:
Sexy as hell male hero: Check.
Hot scenes: So Check!!!
Dirty talk: Check again.
Sweet moments: Check
Nice supportive characters: Check.
Addictive writing: Check.
Cliff-hanger: Check! Damn you people who write CH’s and make us wait months for the next book!!
Mind-blowing: Oh-So-Check!!

You may go read it. Now.
No, really, now. You’re seriously missing out if you didn’t read yet.
Leave Me Breathless (Ross Siblings, #3) - Cherrie Lynn Okaaaay, this was one seriously hot book. Ghost is definitely one alpha-male to meet and I’m having an intern fight between choosing between him and Brian. Believe me, it’s a tough call.

So this is the story of Macy (Candace’s sometimes bitchy best friend) and Ghost, Brian’s best friend.
They have a one-night-stand and things start to change from there. She believes that they come from different worlds and will never work out, he was already burned and his afraid of giving himself. Yeah, they’re both kind of messed up, but I’ve got to say that they have a great chemistry.

Macy frustrated me in several moments but I was able to like her anyway… and Ghost, well, what’s not to like, right? :D
There was a lot of Brian and Candace and some tearful moments and it was great.
This was sweet, steamy and basically everything we want in a book.
You may read it, now.

“Let it go. That’s my philosophy: learn to not give a fuck, at least about petty shit. Life will be much simpler.”
Breathe Me In (Ross Siblings, #2.5) - Cherrie Lynn So, this is the starting of Ghost’s and Macy’s story. (Brian’s and Candace’s best friends. By that order.)
I can tell you much about this because since I’ve yet to read their story, but I can definitely tell you that Ghost seems to be sexy-as-sin and if the book will be as good as this short story, it will be a damn good one.
I now I’ll have to go start it! :)
Bully (Fall Away, #1) - Penelope Douglas This is how bullies are made.

For years and years Tate and Jared were best friends. They did everything together and were one of the most important people in each other’s lives.
One day, after Jared came back from a vacation, he’s not the same anymore and not only has he pushed Tate out of his life but he also started treating her really bad.
For two years Tate sees her high-school life turning in hell, nobody wants her in their parties, she is the target of mean rumors and mean pranks in a daily basis and has trouble making friends… all because of the guy who used to be everything for her.

Sick of all that, she goes to France for a year. There she has a peaceful year with people that like her and doesn’t make her life a living hell.
So when she comes back, she’s not a defenseless girl who goes hide and cry, anymore. This time she’s prepared to fight back… and fight hard.

Jared is not used to this new Tate who doesn’t take sh*t from anyone, so when they finally go “eye to eye”… things will get rough!

I confess that I only started reading this book because it was free on Amazon and even so I hesitated a little. But I was oh-so-wrong. This is probably one of the best books I’ve read in a while (and I read a lot!).

The story is strong, touching, angsty and… amazing. The characters are awesome… I loved the new Tate and although I wanted to slap Jared from time to time, when I found out why he did that and his attitude towards Tate after, I loved him too (not that I’m defending what he did... he was an asshole and had no excuse for that!). They were so damn cute together.

“Yesterday lasts forever.
Tomorrow comes never.
Until you”

I also loved Madoc but I’ve got to say I didn’t like KC very much… she didn’t seem that much of a friend. I’m sorry, but you just DON’T start going out with guy that made your best friend’s life a living hell. It’s called f***ing LOYALTY!

Okay, to end this because I don’t have time for more: One of those books you really shouldn’t miss :)
Playing For Keeps (The Game, #2) - Emma Hart So, this second book is the story of Megan and Aston. If you remember, Megan is Braden’s best friend, practically a sister, and Aston is also one of Braden’s best friends.

Braden is very protective of Megan and Aston is a bit (being “bit” an understatement) of a playboy that jumps from girl to girl without even remember their names.
But when they get together one night, they can’t stay away from each other and so they start a secret relationship.

And as the time progresses, Megan’s starts to see that Aston is more than what he seems and that he’s broken by a dark past. And Aston realizes that with Megan, somehow his ghosts no longer seem so important.
And when feelings starts to grow, they’ll have to find out how to become “fre-nemies” to lovers in one day without losing a best friend along the way.

Despite the good reading that this book was, I liked the first better. Was something missing on this one: probably drama. For a secret relationship with a broken playboy, with a protective best friend thrown to the middle… this was seriously missing some drama.
Nonetheless, I liked it and it’s definitely a sweet romance, very fast to read. :)
Come Alive - Karina Halle “You’re my home, Perry. And I will be yours.”

I don’t know how to write this review. Once in a while we stumble on books that are SO GOOD that we have no words to describe it.
Five starts don’t even begin to describe how good this book is, I would give a hundred starts if I could. Damn it, I would give a freaking million stars if GR allowed me!

This book takes place in New Orleans, and the EIT team (now with the forced addiction of the douchecanoe!) go check a haunted house that doubled is paranormal activity after the Katrina hurricane.

But the haunted house is the least of their problems this time. Not only a plague of Zombie trained killers are invading town, but also new information is being revealed that could change the course of everything.
Dex and Perry finally kind of sorted their relationship out. They know what they feel for each other and no longer are trying to hide it. They’re still problems, they’re still ghosts but they are trying to get past it.

“I want to be with you. Not just as a partner, not just as a friend. I want us to be together, to be one, to be…I don’t know, a fucking couple.”

But when things in NO start to get rough, when new people appear, things start to happen and new (extremely important) information is revealed, everything they did to be in the place that they are could be in danger. They really don’t have a minute to rest. (Damn you for that, Karina Halle!)

There are new characters, a whole new level of sexy and romantic, new secrets found (but I still don’t know if I like Maximus!) and a crazy roller-coaster ride of emotions in this book.
And although I miss Perry’s POV, because she’s pretty much awesome, I can’t get tired of Dex mind. If you loved him before this book (and you did, it’s impossible not to) you’re going to fall completely in love with him in this one… yes, even more.

“Baby, I love you, more than ever, more than anything in the fucking world. You are my world. And all I’ve ever wanted is for me to be yours.”

Definitely, best book in the series so far. But I said that about all the others… they just keep on getting better each time.
Karina Halle ruined me for all other books and for all other book-boyfriends in the future, and I couldn't care less about it.

And now, thanks for an amazing buddy read with the awesome girls:
Joana; Ana Rita; Georgia;Debra;
Kristalia; Vilda; Destini and Gabriella.
We'll meet each other again in the next one :)
(If I missing someone forgive me! There were a lot of us!!)
His Risk to Take (Line of Duty, #2) - Tessa Bailey This second book of Line of Duty tells us the story of Troy and Ruby.
Troy is a detective; Ruby is a pool hustler to pay the bills. (Yes, hustler, you’ve read it right!)
And after a very strange one-night-stand they can’t seem to stay away from each other, when Troy finds that she is in danger, he won’t stop at nothing to keep her safe.

First, Troy is a sexy-as-sin-alpha-male.

Ruby is also awesome.
The sexy steam and the sweet moments are all here, but I’ve got to say that althout I liked it a lot, I liked the first one better.
Nonetheless, these books are a must-read.
You can go now, people.

Amazingly Broken - Jordin Williams So, this is the story of Elana and Jaxxon. They met in Florida when attending the same college. Both of them are broken and hiding secrets… but somehow they can’t help being attracted to each other and against their will, their relationship will mess with their lives and they will find out that sometimes things don't go as we expected.

I tried. I really tried to like this book. The blurb seemed great and I was anxious to read it.
The writing was a little off for me since the beginning but I was able to ignore it because I was actually liking the book at the first pages.

From that point on, was downhill until the end.
It began to look like a cheap copy of Beautiful Disaster. Since the sexy tattooed playboy with anger issues and family problems, to the girl daddy issues: he used to be famous in something and now is an asshole and don’t care about her, to the dangerous hobby of the hero and his hordes of girl fans, to the annoying heroine (really, she annoyed me even more than Abby in BD and believe me, that’s a hard thing to achieve).
I mean the guy treated her extremely well, offered his house and his bedroom and slept on the couch and she treats him like he is trash. Can you say ungrateful bitch?
I couldn't connect with the characters and somehow along the book I lost interest in the history.

Maybe it’s my problem (it probably is) but this book wasn't for me! :(

Branded (Sinners, #1) - Abi Ketner, Missy Kalicicki Rating Clarification: 3.5 Stars

This story takes place in a post-WWV world, which is now a completely different place.
The world is now ruled by the “Commander” and it has to remain pure.
No sins… and no sinners.
The Commander believes that the seven deadly were the cause to the downfall of society and all the sinners that are believed to commit a crime inside one of the seven deadly sins are judged and sent to “The Hole” where a color will identify the type of sin they committed.

Lexi was sent to the hole and she didn't try to defend herself because she knew it wouldn't matter. There she meets Cole, the guard assigned for her.
Relationships between guards and prisoners are strictly forbidden… but Cole starts to see that maybe Lexi isn't so guilty and they can’t help start falling in love.
And with that starts a crazy ride.

I liked this book. Normally I'm not the biggest fan of dystopian books but this catch my attention and I was not disappointed.
There were some things that didn't worked for me, but other than that, it’s a beautiful love story with an original twist and it’s hard not to be hooked to the book and the characters.
Definitely a series that I’ll follow.

And With Madness Comes the Light (Experiment in Terror, #6.5) - Karina Halle This short-story takes place between the end of Lying Season and the almost-end of On Demon Wings and it’s under Dex POV. (Okay, stop screaming girls!)

After he self-destruct his happiness and the chances he had with Perry he is on a very bad place. So he decides to become a better man… for him, but especially for her.

“I felt like I was choking. My words came out hoarsely as I gasped for air, as I allowed myself to feel. “It hurts more than I know what to do with. I can’t handle this. I can’t.”

And after he finds out that she is in trouble he’s going to do everything in his power to save the girl he loves, and try for a possibility of having a happy ending with her.

“I love her, more than anyone should love anything. The kind of love that either fills you up or eats away at you. I love her at my own risk. I love her…dangerously.” ~

Again, this was perfect.
I really can’t say anything more because there’s nothing more to say except that.
I love Dex mind and I can’t get sick of it.
Go read these books people… like, now.
Into the Hollow - Karina Halle This fourth installment is in the middle of the Canadian woods looking for Sasquatch. Also known as bigfoot. Yes, you read it right. Yes, Perry and Dex laughed too.
But they stopped laughing real quickly.

Dex finally realized his feelings for Perry, but she is still hurt after everything that happened and can’t give him another chance. Although, after the recent events, she knows that her only option is leaving her parents house and so, she goes live with him to Seattle.

With the EIT show back on action they go to Canada search for evidence of the big foot. Except this time their biggest threat could be human.
And their biggest haunting is the ghost of their own past that doesn't allow them to move on and be finally happy.
But having to spend so many time together and with cut-deep sexual tension between them, they will have to find a way to be together… or to leave separate ways.

This was the least scary book so far. And it was also the best.
Although the scary side is not in full force (but it is there, make no mistake!), it’s great to see them finally admit their true feelings, and trying to get back track without losing themselves on the way. It was a much more intimate book and just loved it.
Although I liked Perry (well, she’s awesome) there were moments in this book when she pissed the hell out me. And Dex… if he was good before, now was pretty much perfect.

“This is me trying, Perry,” he said softly, the anger being drained of his face. “This is me taking my heart out of my chest and putting the bloody mess in your hands. I can’t give you much more than that.”

Definitely best series ever!
To the next one, now ;)
The Dex-Files - Karina Halle This novella doesn’t bring anything new, considering that they are key-scenes from the previous books.
But since they are under Dex POV it makes everything better.
During the books we often wondered why he acted like that, what was he hiding, why was he an asshole (a sexy one, but still….) during most of the time?
This novella answered all those questions and answered also the million dollar question: Why did he act like that in the end of Lying Season, causing the Holly-Mother-Of-All-Awful-Cliffhangers?

She looked me right in the eye and I saw the truth. I saw it all. And it was all too late.
“You’re not the only who knows how to lie, Dex!”
And there it was.
The truth.

Don’t get me wrong, during several moments I still wanted to slap some sense into him.
But knowing his story, his background I started to understand most of his actions and why he was that way. I started to understand how his feelings towards Perry started to change and why that scared the hell out of him.

She was looking at me in a way I’d always dreamed. It’s too bad I had to save her in order to get it.
I’d never stop saving her.

I could stay here all day telling you why I liked this so much and how I loved being inside Dex mind. But the main point is: I would live forever in his mind and would love every single second of it.

Because even when he has is asshole moments, the feeling doesn’t change:

Well, to the next one now! :)
